“ALIJABÁ” neologism :
‘ALI’ = Ali Babá is the name in portuguese for the famous thief of the Arabian saga ‘1001 Nights’. ‘JABÁ’ = is a slang for the money some record companies and artists pay to radio stations and TVs to play their songs. I think ‘ALIJABÁ’ is obvious the meaning !!!
My Bio
I’m a musician and drummer, born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. My earliest influences that motivated me to like music were THE BEATLES, THE ROLLING STONES and JOVEM GUARDA - a TV show led by ROBERTO CARLOS, one of the biggest idols of Brazilian young music. Then those who influenced me to want to play music were JORGE BEN - creator of a style called SAMBA-ROCK; OS MUTANTES - a psychedelic rock band cult in Brazil and abroad; TROPICÁLIA - a musical and aesthetic movement led by CAETANO VELOSO and GILBERTO GIL; CREAM, JIMI HENDRIX, THE WHO, SANTANA, LED ZEPPELIN, ENGLISH PROGRESSIVE ROCK BANDS, RAVI SHANKAR, MILES DAVIS, FRANK ZAPPA, HERMETO PASCOAL, WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL. I played cans, pots and drums of friends to buy my own KIT at 17 years old. I started listening to the masters and then studied technique and theory with VERA FIGUEIREDO, renowned Brazilian drummer. I also studied music theory and solfege at the ESCOLA MUNICIPAL DE MÚSICA, known for to form musicians to Symphony Orchestra Hall of São Paulo. I was in the path of being a professional musician when a serious accident left me unable to continue playing my instrument. With the popularization of personal computers, synthesizers and drum machines, I started thinking about making and playing music again. Today I’m just an amateur musician who has a true passion for music. I hear all styles and I think there are only two kinds of music: good and bad.
